StreamWriter.Write Method (String)
Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.
When it is called by trusted applications, writes a string to the stream.
Namespace: System.IO
Assembly: mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)
Syntax
'Declaration
Public Overrides Sub Write ( _
value As String _
)
public override void Write(
string value
)
Parameters
- value
Type: System.String
The string to write to the stream. If value is null, nothing is written.
Exceptions
Exception | Condition |
---|---|
ObjectDisposedException | AutoFlush is true or the StreamWriter buffer is full, and current writer is closed. |
NotSupportedException | AutoFlush is true or the StreamWriter buffer is full, and the contents of the buffer cannot be written to the underlying fixed size stream because the StreamWriter is at the end the stream. |
IOException | An I/O error occurs. |
Remarks
This method overrides TextWriter.Write.
The specified String is written to the underlying stream unless the end of the stream is reached prematurely.
Flush is invoked automatically if AutoFlush is true. If value is nulla null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic), no entries are written.
Platform Notes
Silverlight for Windows Phone
StreamWriter.Write may throw IndexOutOfRangeException if the stream state becomes corrupted. On Silverlight for Windows Phone, the stream state may become corrupted if multiple threads write to or read from a stream object without using synchronization.
