You can call CM_Get_DevNode_Property or SetupDiGetDeviceProperty to retrieve the value of DEVPKEY_DEVICE_DeviceDesc.
You can retrieve the value of the DEVPKEY_NAME device instance property to retrieve the name of the device as it should appear in a user interface item.
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 support this property, but do not support the DEVPKEY_Device_DeviceDesc property key. Instead, these earlier versions of Windows use the corresponding SPDRP_DEVICEDESC identifier to access the value of the property.
