Week of August 10, 2026

New build released: Windows 365 Link August Quality Update version 26200.9168

Device Update Indicator

The Power button now shows an indicator when an update is pending installation and requires your action. As the grace period approaches, the Power button also displays an Update available label.

Serial device support

Windows 365 Link now redirects local serial ports to Cloud PC sessions, so apps that rely on connected serial devices can use them during a session.

Connection status and details

Connection Center marks the active Cloud PC with a green checkmark when more than one Cloud PC is available, and connection details are available from the actions menu.

Tenant wallpaper branding

Windows 365 Link sign-in screens can now display your organization’s background wallpaper. This creates a consistent, branded experience for your users and builds on support for your organization’s name and logo (available since April 2026, Build 26200.8246), and now wallpaper (available starting August 2026, Build 26200.9168). The experience automatically scales across all screens and monitors for a consistent, full-screen experience.

Connection security

Improved protection for remote connections, audio setup, display information, and clipboard files.

License policies

Resolved an issue where WAM sign in would fail unexpectedly.

Connection reliability

Improvements to error handling during connection attempts and connection reliability during network drops

Device Reset

You can now initiate a full Device Reset during OOBE only from the quick settings (i) menu.

Refreshed Cloud PC device cards

Cloud PC cards have an updated design with a new details panel and improved loading indicators. You can quickly see more device information, including operating system and device details.

Bug fixes and performance improvements

Government Cloud Support (GCC/GCCH)

Windows 365 Link now supports connectivity to Windows 365 Government Cloud PCs in GCC and GCCH environments, bringing the Cloud PC device experience to government customers. To learn more, go here What is Windows 365 Government?

Language & Localization Enhancements

This update adds expanded keyboard layouts and improved font rendering for mixed-language text. Whether you're navigating sign-in, settings, or typing in your preferred language, the experience adapts to you.

Disk Space Usage visibility in Intune

You can now view disk space usage for Windows 365 Link devices in Intune, providing insight into device health. You can do so by going to Hardware > storage when looking at the device details for a particular Link device.

Product improvements and bug fixes 

With this release, all Windows 365 Link devices move to 25H2, providing customers with continued access to the latest quality updates. The OS build update from 26100 to 26200 also provides clear validation that devices are running on the latest supported platform.

Tenant branding for Company Logo and Name

You can now personalize the Windows 365 Link experience to reflect your organization’s identity, creating a more familiar and trusted environment for users from the moment they sign-in.

Using Personalization CSP in Microsoft Intune, organizations can now:

Branding assets must be hosted on publicly accessible endpoints (HTTP/HTTPS), local disk, or script‑based installation isn’t supported. Supported image formats include: .jpg, .jpeg, and .png.

Documentation

Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) is now supported for Windows 365 Link devices. This feature enables IT administrators to recover devices by reimaging them using external recovery media when remote management or in-device reset options are unavailable. Product improvements and bug fixes

This release delivers reliability and accessibility improvements, including more stable sign‑in and Cloud PC connections when changing displays, visible progress during update installation, improved keyboard navigation so you can tab to everything you see, and more.

Additionally, this release includes updates that help address Intel advisories (INTEL-SA-01398, INTEL-SA-01315, and INTEL-SA-01396). It also corrects issues related to incorrect device chassis type, serial numbers, and model names. This release further resolves an issue where devices in certain regions were using reduced Wi‑Fi power levels instead of the appropriate country-specific settings. The components installed will vary based on your device configuration.

Improved Sign-in Experience with Web Account Manager (WAM) Interactive Support

Windows 365 Link now supports a broader set of interactive authentication experiences when connecting to Cloud PCs with support of Web Account Manager (WAM) interactive flows, improving the sign-in experience. With WAM interactive functionality:

  • It's no longer a hard requirement to create a Conditional Access policy enforcing MFA on the user action of register or join devices to use Windows 365 Link in your environment. Please note: implementing such a Conditional Access policy is still a best practice and highly recommended from Microsoft.

  • Windows 365 Link can work with a broader range of Conditional Access policy configurations on Windows 365 cloud resources within your environment such as use of sign-in frequency conditions or use of authentication strengths.

  • Users can be prompted for consent during sign-in when needed such as first connection to a Single Sign‑On (SSO) enabled Cloud PC.

This enhancement enables Windows 365 Link to work with a wider range of Conditional Access policy configurations within your environment to better align with your organization’s security requirements.

This release has improvements, including sign-in reliability, performance optimizations, Bluetooth menu enhancement, and more.

Additionally, this release includes updates that help address Intel chipset and graphics advisories (INTEL‑SA‑01280 and INTEL‑SA‑01259). These updates help improve overall device stability. The components installed will vary based on your device configuration.

Voice access empowers users to control their PC and input text using voice commands, without needing a keyboard or mouse. Supported languages include:

Support for use with Windows 365 Reserve Cloud PCs, making Windows 365 Link a great backup option when someone’s primary desktop is unavailable due to hardware failure.

Sign in screen supports captive portal

The quick settings on the sign-in screen now support connecting to captive portal Wi-Fi networks, allowing users to connect and authenticate to such networks before signing in to the device.

Product improvements and bug fixes

This release has improvements to accessibility, performance, updates, and connection reliability across setup. Connection detail improvements, now users can copy information from the connection details by using Ctrl+C on the connection detail dialog box. Fixes for internet connectivity issues and quick settings access, along with improvements to Cloud PC startup time.

This release improves the Windows 365 sign-in experience, connection reliability, and accessibility. You see 'update in progress' message instead of a black screen during reboot. It also adds more regional keyboard support and fixes issues with sign-in, Quick Settings, and overall reliability.

Multi-monitor support (preview)

Windows 365 Link now supports more display settings in the Cloud PC Display Settings menu:

  • Duplicate and extended modes.
  • Adjust the resolution, scale, and orientation of each monitor.

Connection Center

If a user is assigned more than one Windows 365 Cloud PC, the new Connection Center screen now appears when a user first signs in to their Windows 365 Link device. On the Connection Center screen, users can:

  • Choose which of their Cloud PCs to connect to.
  • Troubleshoot connection errors.
  • Reboot and restore their Cloud PCs.

Bug fixes and performance improvements

  • Fixed an issue that could cause Keyboard Language settings to not persist correctly during locked sessions and after profile updates (56347820).
  • Fixed an issue that could sometimes prevent Task Manager from launching correctly (57115154).
  • Fixed issue with inadvertent timeouts on certain actions in the security key sign-in process (57007130).
