List rules (for a role management policy)

Namespace: microsoft.graph

Get the rules or settings defined for a role management policy. The rules are a collection of following types that are derived from the unifiedRoleManagementPolicyRule object:

• unifiedRoleManagementPolicyApprovalRule
• unifiedRoleManagementPolicyAuthenticationContextRule
• unifiedRoleManagementPolicyEnablementRule
• unifiedRoleManagementPolicyExpirationRule
• unifiedRoleManagementPolicyNotificationRule

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Permissions

One of the following permissions is required to call this API. To learn more, including how to choose permissions, see Permissions.

For PIM for Microsoft Entra roles

Permission type	Permissions (from least to most privileged)
Delegated (work or school account)	RoleManagementPolicy.Read.Directory, RoleManagement.Read.Directory, RoleManagement.Read.All, RoleManagementPolicy.ReadWrite.Directory, RoleManagement.ReadWrite.Directory
Delegated (personal Microsoft account)	Not supported.
Application	RoleManagementPolicy.Read.Directory, RoleManagement.Read.Directory, RoleManagement.Read.All, RoleManagementPolicy.ReadWrite.Directory, RoleManagement.ReadWrite.Directory

In delegated scenarios with work or school accounts, the signed-in user must be assigned a supported Microsoft Entra role or a custom role with a supported role permission. The following least privileged roles are supported for this operation.

• For read operations: Global Reader, Security Operator, Security Reader, Security Administrator, or Privileged Role Administrator
• For write operations: Privileged Role Administrator

For PIM for groups

To retrieve rules in a policy for either Microsoft Entra roles or groups:

Optional query parameters

This method supports the $select and $filter OData query parameters to help customize the response. For general information, see OData query parameters.

Request headers

Name	Description
Authorization	Bearer {token}. Required. Learn more about authentication and authorization.

Request body

Don't supply a request body for this method.

Response

If successful, this method returns a 200 OK response code and a collection of unifiedRoleManagementPolicyRule objects in the response body.
