USA: V1 Committee stimmt für die Annahme von ISO/IEC DIS 29500 Open XML

Wie positiv die Änderungen und Verbesserungen von Open XML durch das Treffen in Genf von den einzelnen Ländern aufgenommen wird, zeigen ja schon die offiziellen Äußerungen von Dänemark und Norwegen.

Doch jetzt wird die positive Stimmung der einzelnen nationalen Normungsinstitute auch in klare Ergebnisse umgesetzt. Oder wie Brian Jones auf seinem Blog schreibt: U.S. TC will approve Open XML as an ISO standard.

Brian bezieht sich bei seiner Aussage auf Doug Mahugh, einem BRM Delegierten aus den USA. Doug berichtet von seiner Telefonkonferenz des "U.S. V1 technical committee":

I just got off a 3-hour call with my colleagues on the V1 technical committee, in which I and the other members of the US delegation to the BRM presented our thoughts on what happened at the BRM. Then we all voted on what to recommend to the INCITS Executive Board for the final US position on DIS 29500.

The final outcome: we are recommending that the US maintain its Approve position on DIS 29500. The next step will be for the INCITS Executive Board to conduct a letter ballot to approve this result.

... , it's great to have finished up our review of DIS 29500 on a positive note. ...

Das diese Annahme von Open XML kommen würde hatte sich ja schon abgezeichnet. Schon am Mittwoch hat der Vorsitzende des Komitees, und ODF Editor, Dr. Patrick Durusau gesagt: " I recommend approval of DIS 29500 as an ISO standard "

Schon damals hat sich deutlich gezeigt, dass Open XML sowohl in der Industrie als auch von offizieller Seite akzeptiert und unterstützt wird. Sogar von Seiten direkter Mitbewerbern zum ursprünglichen Entwickler des Formates, Microsoft, wurde auch damals schon Zustimmung kundgetan.
