Supported Fonts on IE for Windows Phone 7

Internet Explorer on Windows Phone 7 supports a variety of font faces (13) that you can use in your Web pages, ranging from the usual suspects like Arial to fonts like Segoe WP, which Windows Phone uses itself for various User Interface text. The full set of default fonts available are listed in the following table. Each of these font faces has an attendant variant for bold or italic.

In addition to these, there are three East Asian fonts that we include:

  • Japanese: Meiryo UI
  • Simplified Chinese: Microsoft YaHei

    Hey Joe, any plans on bringing IE9 (Trident 5.0) stuff to WP7 on IE Mobile? Would be amazing to experience native hardware-accelerated HTML5/JavaScript/CSS on a phone!

    Do you plan to plan to upgrade Internet Explorer Mobile to Trident 5.0 from which Internet Explorer 9 is based or perhaps Trident 4.0 from Internet Explorer 8?

    @Rik @Eric - Web font support is currently in IE9 on the desktop. We're investigating it for mobile.

    @iemoblog No offence, but @font-face has been supported since IE4. It's sad to not see it in WP7. Also, +1 for phonegap. The future is HTML5. If you don't support these kinds of javascript/css3/etc frameworks, you'll miss out on a lot of apps and web developer support. From my understanding you can't even drag stuff (like a div) around with touch-events..

    The Phonegap guys already have a version that works on WP7. We are working with them to ensure that Phonegap developers have a great framework on WP7. The initial release of IE on WP7 does have a few features lacking that the desktop version contains, but we are working to address those in a follow-up release. We are keenly aware of the features we need to make available to enable great Web experiences on the phone.

    Dear Joe, that IE on WP7 doesnt support Arabic, do you have any idea if the any update will come soon that will fix this?
