Sharing Information with a License Issuer
If content packaging and license issuing are not performed by the same organization or if these functions are not performed on the same computer, the following information must be shared by the organizations or computers:
- The license key seed. Without this value, the license issuer cannot generate the correct key (and license) for a Windows Media file . It is important for this value to be shared in a secure manner.
- The content packager's public key. The license issuer uses this value to verify the signature of the content header and optionally to bind the packager's public key to each license issued for the packaged files.
- The license issuer's public key. If content packagers want to revoke their own packaged files, they need the license issuer's public key to generate a content revocation string.
