Copy a Job or Task
Applies To: Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 R2, Microsoft HPC Pack 2012, Microsoft HPC Pack 2012 R2
To run a job again, either as-is, or with changes, you can make and submit a copy of the job. Copying a job allows you to run a finished job again, or to use the property settings of a previously submitted job as a pattern for a new job.
Similarly, within a single job, you can make a copy of a task. This allows you to efficiently create multiple tasks with similar properties.
You can use the following procedures to copy jobs or tasks using HPC Cluster Manager.
Note
To complete this procedure, you must be the job owner or a cluster administrator.
Copying a job
To copy a job
In Job Management, in the Navigation Pane, click All Jobs.
In the job list, right-click a job, then click Copy Job.
In the Copy Job dialog box, make modifications to the job if necessary, then click Submit.
Copying a task
In HPC Cluster Manager, the option to copy a task is available in the New Job, Modify Job, and Copy Job dialog boxes. As an example, the following procedure describes how to copy a task in the New Job dialog box.
To copy a task
In Job Management, in the Actions pane, click New Job.
In the New Job dialog box, in the left pane, click Edit Tasks.
Add a task, and set the properties as necessary. The task appears in the task list.
In the task list, click the task you created, then click Copy. A copy of the task appears in the task list.
In the task list, click the copied task. Under Task Properties, you can modify the properties for the task, or click Edit to open the Task Details and I/O Redirection dialog box.
Additional considerations
If you want to use a job or task as a pattern for multiple submissions, you can export the job or task to a description file. For more information, see Save a Job or Task to a File.
