Model 2: Single quorum device server cluster configuration
Model 2 shows how you can configure multiple nodes in a single quorum device server cluster.
In this cluster model the quorum resource maintains the cluster configuration data on a single cluster storage device. This is the traditional cluster model that was available in previous versions of Windows.
The following figure represents an example of a multinode server cluster that uses a quorum device configuration.
Note
- An inaccurate perception of this model is that the cluster storage device can be a single point of failure. This is not true, especially for clusters that use Storage Area Networks (SANs) where there are often multiple, redundant paths from the cluster nodes to the storage device. It is recommended that you implement a hardware RAID solution for your cluster storage devices to guard against disk failure.
