Outlook backup tool stopped working?
Microsoft Outlook users with personal folder should always ensure they take regular backups of their .pst files so they can be recovered in the event of hardware or software failure. There's a handy free tool to make this easier available for Outlook 2000 and 2003, and another for Outlook 2002.
But you also need to make sure that this important backup tool continues to run! If you've installed this tool in the past and haven't seen then backup dialog box recently when you exit Outlook, it's possible that the COM add-in has been disabled. This can happen for a bunch of reasons. You may have disabled it yourself or Outlook may have autodisabled it if a conflict was detected with another COM adin. To find out for sure, check to see if the Backup option appears in your File menu. If it's there, the backup tool is working nicely. If it isn't, it's time to get it back! To do this, just follow the steps at KB Article 910873.
