I do not know how I missed this one, but this is a very cool tool. The Windows Server Virtualization Calculator allows you to specify how many virtual machines you will be running, on a given set of hardware, and it will show you all of your licensing options for buying Windows Server. This way you can quickly determine what the best option is for your environment.

Have heard of two virtualization products: Virtual PC 2007 and Virtual Server 2005 R2 (both of these are freely available from microsoft). One question that comes in mind is: What's the difference between the two? Is 2007 one latest version and 2005 previous one or is it like they are totally different or meant for different purposes? And can you provide some link that explains the licensing details for both host and guest operating systems?Anonymous
