此協定由 JVM 1.2 撰寫。
可外部化資料以區塊資料模式寫入，並以TC_ENDBLOCKDATA作為終止。 外部化類別描述符旗標已啟用 SC_BLOCK_DATA。 JVM 1.1.6 及以上版本可讀取此格式變更。
允許在串流中寫入非序列化的類別描述符。 非序列化類別的 serialVersionUID 設為 0L。
在 1.2 版本中加入。
