Specifies the data type of the column. This is a value from the DataType enumeration that determines the type of DTP_VARIANT structure stored in each cell of this column.

Remarks
This structure is used by the pipeline to determine column information. When a component calls the GetData method, the last parameter is the returned column data, in a DTP_VARIANT structure. The data union is the union of the different types supported by the pipeline, such as Long, String, wstring, decimal, numeric, and so on, and it contains the column data. The DataType is the datatype of the column data, and it tells which part of the union to use. The length specifies the length of the data in the union.
