Overview
AI Builder allows citizen developers to use, customize, and govern AI models across their organization in no-code. By leveraging AI models, makers can build more powerful applications and automate workflows that previously required human intervention, which reduces errors and increases time savings. AI Builder provides makers with access to AI capabilities centered around processing documents, text, images, and structured data, and the ability to import AI models created by data scientists into Microsoft Power Platform. AI Builder is natively integrated in Power Platform, which allows makers to securely and reliably benefit from the breakthrough AI technology built by Microsoft to infuse it in their own apps and flows.
AI Builder is investing in several areas for this wave:
Intelligent document processing: Today, makers can already leverage prebuilt models to process documents (for example, invoices, receipts, identity documents, and business cards). They can also custom train their own AI models to process structured, semi-structured, and unstructured document content. We're increasing the breadth of capabilities supported to allow makers to detect signatures in documents, classify documents, and remove personally identifiable information in documents. We're also improving the ability to detect tables that span across multiple pages in structured forms. Finally, we're making it easier to build custom AI models by allowing makers to iterate from a prebuilt model instead of training a new model from scratch.
Model ops: Model ops includes the lifecycle and governance of AI models managed through AI Builder. We're improving model monitoring capabilities to better track how models are used across an organization. We're also improving the feedback loop component by adding a human in the loop validation station. This allows the feedback loop to integrate with a broader set of model capabilities, including text. Another core part of how models are governed in an organization relates to model versioning. We'll enable support for multiple versions of a given model, including the ability to test, deploy, and roll back models and their training sets.
Text processing: AI Builder will provide a default solution for text processing that enables the classification and routing of customer feedback through email. This will include key updates to building text classification models with AI Builder, including the ability to manage datasets with more than 5,000 records, and the ability to provide datasets that have been previously tagged.

AI capabilities for makers
This area covers all AI model capabilities that are newly available to makers to build more intelligent apps and flows. In 2022 release wave 2, we'll provide new capabilities that allow makers to automatically build localized and accessible apps. We'll also focus on extending the set of text processing capabilities so that makers can easily build text automation flows.
Intelligent document processing
In 2022 release wave 2, we'll focus on expanding document processing capabilities to support:
- Enhanced performance of table extraction spanning across multiple pages for structured documents.
- Document classification.
- Identifying personally identifiable information.
- Detecting signatures.
