How to Configure a Distribution Point to Transfer Content Using BITS, HTTP, and HTTPS

If a distribution point in Configuration Manager 2007 supports Internet-based clients, you must configure the distribution point for Internet-based content with the option Allow clients to transfer content from this distribution point using BITS, HTTP, and HTTPS (required for device clients and Internet-based clients). For other scenarios when this option must be configured, see Decide Whether to Enable BITS on a Distribution Point.

Although this option must be configured when you configure the Internet-based distribution point for client connections, use the following procedure to verify its configuration and correct if necessary.

To configure a distribution point for Internet-based content

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> / Site Settings / Site Systems.

  2. Expand the site system that is configured for the Internet-based distribution point role, right-click ConfigMgr distribution point, and then select Properties.

  3. On the General tab, in the Communication Settings section, select Allow clients to transfer content from this distribution point using BITS, HTTP, and HTTPS (required for device clients and Internet-based clients).

  4. Click OK.

    注意

For more information about the options in this dialog box, see ConfigMgr Distribution Point Properties: General Tab.
