Package Name Properties: Data Access Tab

Use the Data Access tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 Software Distribution <Package Name> Properties dialog box to specify where Configuration Manager 2007 stores this package on distribution points and how it will be accessed.

The Data Access tab contains the following elements

  • Access distribution folder through common ConfigMgr package share
Specifies whether users will access the package through the common Configuration Manager 2007 package share (SMSPKGx$, where x is the drive letter) on distribution points. This option is selected by default.
  • Share distribution folder
Specifies whether the package will be created on distribution points with an administrator-specified share and path name. Selecting this option requires a share name.
  • Share name
Specifies a share name or path to be created for the package source files on distribution points. This share name must be unique, even across package types, as duplicate share names may cause data corruption.

    Two options are available:

    • The value can be a share, in which case the name must be unique across all packages. If this option is used, all files and subdirectories within that share will be deleted and re-created each time the package is updated or refreshed.

    • The value can be a share and a path, in the format sharename\path, in which case the path must be unique across all packages. If this option is used, only the final directory in the path will be deleted and re-created each time the package is updated or refreshed.

      注意

Do not enter a full Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path in Share name, such as \server\share. Instead enter a share and path name in the format sharename\path.

To control which drive a package folder is created on, you can assign the distribution point role to a server share rather than a server computer. For distribution points on server shares, if a share name is entered for a package, it is treated as a path beneath the distribution point share (\\MyServer\MyShare). For more information, see Site Systems Configuration Overview.

    注意

If the share distribution folder is subsequently changed, it is important to make sure that only the valid share name is used. If an invalid name is used, the package content will be deleted and the package source will need to be recopied to a valid share.

  • Disconnect users from distribution points
Specifies that users will be disconnected from distribution points when Configuration Manager 2007 updates package data. This option applies only to standard distribution points.

This check box is cleared by default.

If this option is selected, the following settings are available:

    • Number of retries before disconnecting users: Specifies the number of times that Configuration Manager 2007 tries to update the package source files before disconnecting users connected to the distribution point. The default setting is 2; you can specify 0 to 99, inclusive.

    • Interval between user notification and disconnection (minutes): Specifies the number of minutes Configuration Manager 2007 will wait after notifying users before disconnecting them from distribution points. The default setting is 5 minutes; you can specify  0 to 59 minutes, inclusive.

      注意

If the program within the package has the Run Program from Distribution Point option set, clients running either the Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 operating systems will not receive user notification. For more information about verifying whether this option has been set, see Advertisement Name Properties: Distribution Points Tab.
