Hi @Drew Littell,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum and sharing your experience.

I completely understand how important it is to have your folders organized alphabetically. It’s a key part of keeping your inbox efficient and easy to manage. I’d be happy to assist you further.

To make sure I provide the most accurate guidance, could you please help me with a few quick details?

Which version of Outlook are you currently using?

You can find this by going to File > Office Account > About Outlook.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can take to manage your folders more effectively:

  1. From the navigation in new Outlook, select Mail
  2. Select the View tab on the ribbon, select Folder pane, and if it's not already selected, select Custom folder order.

  1. Select and hold the folder you want to move and then drag and drop it to the new location.  Or, right-click the folder and select Move up or Move down.

If so, i notice that some users can use this feature, but others cannot use it. And based on my test, the option is displayed in my New Outlook. (Microsoft Outlook version 1.2025.801.400 (Production), WebView2 Version is 139.0.3405.86)

Moreover, at this time, the New Outlook for Windows does not yet support automatic alphabetical sorting of child folders under a parent folder. This feature is available in the Classic Outlook, but it has not been fully rolled out in the New Outlook experience.

We recognize that this functionality is essential for many users, and our product team is actively working to bring it to the New Outlook in future updates. While we don’t have an exact release date yet, your feedback plays a vital role in helping us prioritize this feature.

Your feedback is important, Microsoft actively monitors user input to prioritize improvements. The more feedback they receive on this issue, the more likely it is to be addressed.

Additionally, I found that this feature is gradually being pushed to the end users. Please be patient and wait for the feature to appear. More information: Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365
