Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
Dear @Vishal Prajapati,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand that technical issues can be frustrating, and I’d love to help you resolve this. Before giving you the best solution, could you please confirm these questions below to help me diagnose the issue more effectively:
- Are the affected users internal employees, guests, or external collaborators?
- Is the issue affecting all Teams access, or just specific teams or channels?
- Did this issue begin after a recent change (e.g., license update, app deployment, policy change)?
- Is it affecting users intermittently or consistently?
- Are the affected users part of any specific security group or department?
- Are they accessing Teams via desktop app, web, or mobile?
- Do you know if your account has an active Microsoft 365 or Azure subscription assigned in this organization?
According to my research, here are some ways I recommend you try:
Step 1. Verify your account: Ensure you are signed in with the correct work or school account.
Option 1: Use Teams on the web in InPrivate/Incognito: Open https://teams.microsoft.com in a private browser window and explicitly choose the correct organization under the profile menu (top‑right > Accounts & orgs). If it drops them into a different org, switch back to your home org. For reference: Manage accounts and organizations in Microsoft Teams
Option 2: Fully sign out of Teams, then clear the local cache
- For more detailed instruction: Clear the Teams client cache
Step 2. Clear Cache or Use Private Mode Sometimes cached credentials cause conflicts. Try clearing your browser cache or using an InPrivate/Incognito window.
- Sign out of all Microsoft accounts in your browser.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies.
- Alternatively, try signing in using an Incognito/Private window.
Step 3. If you are users, please contact your IT administrator:
- Add your account to the organization’s again
- Assign the correct roles and licenses (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams, or Azure roles).
- Check Again Conditional Access Policies that might be blocking your sign-in.
Option 1: Access to Microsoft 365 admin center > settings (left sidebar) > Org settings > select "Microsoft Teams" > the panel show on the right and then tick to "turn on".
Option 2: Going to https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home#/users. Selecting user, and going to the licenses section, found the Microsoft Teams license, unchecked it, checked it back immediately, and then saved it. Then reopened Teams and it should work as expected.
Step 4: Remove and Re-add the Account
- On your device, go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Remove the problematic account and then re-add it.
Step 5: Try a Different Device or Network
- Sometimes network restrictions or cached tokens cause issues. Test on another device or network.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.
