Can’t log into my university Microsoft account because of Authenticator app

Hello, I need help with logging into my university Microsoft account. When I try to sign in, it asks me to enter the code from the Microsoft Authenticator app on my mobile device. The problem is that I am not signed in to my account on any mobile device, so I cannot see the code.

Also, I don’t see any other verification or login options available — the system only asks for the Authenticator app, and I don’t have an alternative way to log in.

I need access to this account for my studies, but I am stuck at this step.

Is there any way to reset this or log in without the Authenticator app?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @Franciszek Dąbrowski

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum, and I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble accessing your university account.

To better assist you, could you please clarify the following: Have you previously set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on any device for this account, or is this your first time trying to sign in?

Additionally, when your university enforces multi-factor authentication (MFA) and only allows verification through the Microsoft Authenticator app, the system will not display other options such as SMS, email, or phone call unless those methods have been configured by your administrator. That’s likely why you're being prompted exclusively for the Authenticator app.

If you haven’t installed the app yet, you can follow this official guide to get started: How to add your accounts to Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Support

Please understand that our initial response may not resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

If you have any updates, feel free to leave a comment under this post. I’ll be happy to assist further.
