Login loop after changing alias from hotmail to outlook

Hi,

Last week I changed my alias, and then everything went wrong. I added a new @outlook.de Alias, made this to my new primary Alias and then deleted the old one (@hotmail.com).

Now i can not login to Xbox Game Pass (PC), nor can I login to Microsoft Store or any other Microsoft App on the PC (OneDrive is still working). All apps are an infinite loop of asking for my password, and asking for the OTP. I have full access to my account, I can log in to Outlook and Microsoft on the web, that is all 100% fine.

Before you ask: I have done every previously listed workaround, outside of "I've seen suggestions on creating a local account and removing the original account but I'm too keen on this because at that point I may as well do a fresh install." so please do not suggest basic troubleshooting - I have done my utmost due diligence before I posted here.

Thanks,
Stefan

Thanks. Actually what was working was to convert the MS Windows Login to a local user first. Then reboot. Then Re-Convert the user to a MS User Login with the new credentials. Directly after converting the user it still didn't work, but approx. 1 hour after all went fine.

    Hello Stefan Schlichtinger

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. It's my pleasure to help you today.

I understand that you are having trouble with a log in loop after changing your password. I really know how frustrating it could be, I see that you have done all the basic troubleshooting steps. So may I know the details of what you have done?

The reason for this might come from a delay sync from the system, so before we proceed, can I confirm if you can now log into account.microsoft.com with the new alias?

In the meantime, there is a few steps for you to try:

    1. Reset the affected apps.
If you have done the basic troubleshooting steps, you probably have tried this. However, I'd like to make sure that we don't leave out anything.
      • Go to Settings > App > Installed apps.
      • Select the affected apps, click on the three dot next to it and select "Advanced options"
      • Scroll down to the "Reset" section and select "Reset"
    2. Clear cached credentials
      • Type "Credentials Manager" on the search bar and press "Enter"
      • Search the Credential Manager app for any entries that related to your Microsoft account and remove them.
      • More specifically: For the Xbox app you are trying to access. You can find the entries below:
      • Xbl|DeviceKey
      • Xbl|DeviceToken
      • MicrosoftAccount:user@example.com
      • legacyGeneric:target=XboxLive
      • SSO_POP_Device
      • SSO_POP_User
      • Try to sign in again.
    3. Remove the account from your PC.
      • Go to Settings > Account > Email & Accounts
      • Under account used by other apps > Select your account and click "Remove".
      • Re-add the account using the new alias.
