since the office upgrade, my title bar overlaps my ribbon bar, this is a major **** and quite annoying

Based on your description, I understand that since a recent Office upgrade, you are experiencing a significant display issue where the application's title bar is incorrectly overlapping your ribbon bar. I can certainly understand how this would be quite annoying and disruptive to your work.

 I have tested this in my own environment and can confirm that I am seeing the same behavior. Here are a few workarounds you can try: 

Method 1: Roll Back to a Previous Version  

This method depends on how you installed Office. 

+If you installed Office from the Mac App Store: You cannot roll back to a previous version. Your only option is to uninstall the App Store version of Office, and then reinstall it by downloading Office from the Microsoft website (see link below): 

Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac  

+If you installed Office directly from the Microsoft Website (Retail/Web Download): 

You can roll back > Uninstall your current version of Office > Go to the "Update history for Office for Mac" page and download the installer package for a stable older version, such as 16.100 or 16.99. 

Method 2: Adjust macOS Dock Settings  

Some users have reported that changing the Dock's behavior can help. 

Go to System Settings on your Mac > Click on Desktop & Dock >Find the setting "Automatically hide and show the Dock" and turn on "Automatically hide and show the Dock" > This will hide the dock when you do not move the mouse near bottom of the screen > Then, in Word app, you move the mouse to full screen button until it shows many options for screen mode, and you choose the fill option (look image below): 

Method 3: Use Word on the Web  

As a temporary alternative to keep your work going, you can use the web version of Word by logging into office.com.

Other users are reporting this as well. You can send feedback to Microsoft using the Help menu in Word. One workaround is to NOT run Word in full screen.
