Additional chat-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for business
Dear @Shah, Tanay (GE Vernova, consultant),
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Based on your description, it sounds like you want to stop the red underlines (spell‑check highlights) in Microsoft Teams because they’re distracting.
Here is suggestion you can try:
Teams uses the Windows spell‑checker. You can disable or limit it at the OS level:
Open Team desktop app
- Select 3 dots beside user icon on the right corner > Setting > General > Language and Regional formats > Click to Manage Windows settings
- Windows Settings > Time & language > Typing.
- Turn off Autocorrect misspelled words or highlight misspelled words
- Restart Teams.
Or in Team setting > General > scroll down to Editor spellcheck > Turn off Spelling
