Hi there, Whilst I've been subscribing to use Office 365, my main laptop has been stolen so reverting to my old MacBook Pro 17" running Mac OS 13.7.8 VENTURA.

Is there a version of Microsoft Office 365 that I can install on Mac 13.7.8 VENTURA, and how do I obtain the necessary download link/file for this?

Microsoft does a terrible job at finding the link to download older versions of Office. You need to go to:

learn.microsoft.com -> Documentation -> Microsoft 365 documentation -> Microsoft 365 Apps and Office -> Office for Mac -> Manage updates -> Update History. This will take you to "Update History for Office for Mac." Once there, find the Install Package you need by scrolling down on the webpage. For Mac 13.7.8 VENTURA, it's the September 16, 2025 release date, Version 16.101.

Or, just click on the link below:

Hope this helps!

Microsoft is still providing older versions of 16.101, which is the last Microsoft 365 build that supports macOS Ventura. After that, Microsoft requires macOS Sonoma or later to keep receiving Office app updates.

I leave the link to them below – they should successfully install:

    Business & Productivity Software

    Office suite 16.101 (with Teams)

    Office suite 16.101 (without Teams)

    Dear @Marine Depuiset,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

I'm truly sorry to hear about the loss of your laptop. That’s a difficult situation, and I hope you're doing okay amidst the disruption.

Regarding your current MacBook Pro (2017) running macOS Ventura 13.7.8, I’ve looked into the compatibility and installation options for Microsoft Office 365, and here’s what you need to know:

Office 365 is compatible with macOS Ventura. However:

    • The September 2025 update (version 16.101) is the final version that supports Ventura.
    • Future updates and security patches will require macOS Sonoma or later.

Reference: Upgrade macOS to continue receiving Microsoft 365 and Office for Mac updates - Microsoft Support

Also, I have tried to research deeply in order to help you, but your MacBook Pro (2017) is not included in Apple’s official list of devices compatible with macOS Sonoma. According to macOS Sonoma compatibility: The Macs that run macOS 14 | Macworld, Apple has dropped support for several 2017 models, and only the iMac Pro (2017) remains eligible for Sonoma.

Attempting to upgrade using unofficial methods is not recommended, as it may lead to:

    • System instability
    • Security vulnerabilities
    • Loss of hardware functionality
    • No support from Apple

Besides that, you can still install and use Office 365 on Ventura by following these steps:

    • Visit https://www.office.com
    • Sign in with your Microsoft account linked to your subscription.
    • Click “Install Office” to download the installer.
    • Open the downloaded .pkg file and follow the installation prompts.
    • Enter your Mac’s admin password when prompted.
    • Once installed, sign in again to activate Office.

You can look in this link for more details: Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac - Microsoft Support

Also, here is the link for necessary download version, you can consult: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

Finally, I would like to advise that you can continue using Office 365 on Ventura with version 16.101. If you need access to future updates or features, you may want to consider upgrading your device in the future to have security improvements. Microsoft may eventually stop offering support for older versions, making it harder to get help if issues arise.

I hope this information can help you in this case. Wish you all the best!
