How can I get Microsoft to fix the new Office icons?

Someone decided that it is time to redesign the Microsoft icons. For some reason however, someone also thought that it's a good idea to

make the icons as small as possible by adding a large white border around them
note down the letter of the application (e.g. "W" for Word) in the bottom left corner - the exact same spot where we have a check mark for synchronized OneDrive files

The end result looks like this - top file is WORD, bottom file is an IMAGE:

As a heavy office users, I'm asking myself, what the intent here is. I don't want to increase all my icons on Windows only because of the new Office icons. Is there any way to fix this error???

It's not an error, just a mediocre design decision. Microsoft is prone to those. You can try Help>Feedback>Make a suggestion. Before posting, search for similar existing requests, as there are many upset by this change.
