Azure Starup funds for existing account

Hello,

I recently started my startup and came across the Azure for Startups program. I reached out to support, but was told that only new Azure accounts can apply.

My Azure account was created during my university studies, and I’ve mainly used it for learning purposes. Since this is now a legitimate startup project, could you please confirm if I’m truly ineligible just because my account isn’t brand new?

I’ve also seen some cases online where people with existing accounts were able to get startup support, so I’d really appreciate clarification on how this works and whether there’s any way to apply under my current account.

Thank you for your time and help, Konrad

Hello Konrad,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A,

It depends on which “Azure for Startups” offer you’re trying to use:

  1. The $1,000–$5,000 “Azure startup credit offer” / free trial
    1. Requires a brand-new Azure customer account (MSA) with no prior Azure subscription. If you’ve ever had an Azure subscription (e.g., as a student), you’re ineligible for this particular offer. Microsoft Learn
  2. Microsoft for Startups – Founders Hub (Investor Offer)
