My word document is skipping an entire page and going to the next page. It's skipping page number 10 and going straight to page number 11

Can you see the tenth page if you look at the print preview at File > Print?

Word's Print Layout view will omit pages that are intentionally blank, such as an even page added by Word to force the text after a section break to start on an odd page number.

I was getting a blank page online that did not appear to come from paragraph markers or page breaks. It resolved when I toggled View - "Separate Pages" off and on.

Jay: You are exactly correct! Ay-yi-yi! . . . Here I copied in a bunch of content from another source onto a paragraph space that had been left by a subhead I had moved out of the way by simply typing <ENTER> . . . and I had configured the subhead with the Keep With Next paragraph characteristic. . . .

Whew boy! So glad you thought of it!

THANK YOU! I'm sorry I don't know how to mark your answer as "Accepted." You were spot on!

My question is ALMOST the same as Alexa's . Except it's two-thirds of a particular page in a 73-page document. I had already tried the Show / Hide solution and there is absolutely nothing "there" (that I can see) to cause the text to flow around that area. No discoverable text boxes. No anything. . . .

    Hi @Alexa Mitchell,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your sharing, the issue can be due to hidden formatting or section breaks. You can try following this guideline to narrow down the issue step by step:

    • Go to Home tab in the Ribbon > Paragraph section > turn on the Show/Hide button (¶)

    User's image

    • Now scroll to the page that is having issue, and you can identify which one causes the page skipping problem (Page Break/Section Break, manual line break as the arrow icon, multiple paragraph marks as the ¶ symbol). Select and delete them
