Hello @HARI KUMAR PUPPALA,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

For your error code you are seeing, I will explain detail to you can clarify:

The error code 0xe0000002 in OneNote usually indicates an application-level issue, often caused by corrupted cache files, incomplete installation, or conflicts with add-ins.

So, here are steps you can try:

1.Repair Office or OneNote:

You should try exit all Office applications and then running an Online Repair for Microsoft Office:

  • You select Apps in setting => Installed apps => scroll down to find OneNote app or Office.
  • You click on it, then select Modify.

  • When prompted by User Account Control (UAC), you need to click Yes.
  • In the window that appears, you can select Quick Repair first. If the issue persists, you choose Online Repair for a deeper fix.

Install using click-to-run

Note: For Online Repair, this will reinstall Office and may take a few minutes, but it won’t affect your documents or settings.

For reference: Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support

2.Clear OneNote cache:

  • You should close OneNote completely. Then you press Windows + R, type: %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0

Note: The folder path may include a version number like 16.0, but this can vary depending on the version of Microsoft Office installed on your system.

  • There, you will see a folder with the name cache; you can delete that folder.

3. Run OneNote in Safe Mode and Check Add-ins:

Safe Mode opens OneNote without loading any third-party add-ins or custom settings. This makes it easier to check if the problem is caused by an add-in or extension.

  • You need to close OneNote completely, you press Windows + R and type: onenote.exe /safe

If OneNote works fine in Safe Mode, the problem is likely caused by an add-in. You need to disable add-ins by:

  • You go to File => Options => Add-ins.
  • At the bottom, you choose COM Add-ins => click Go. You should uncheck all add-ins to identify the culprit.

Additionally, you need to make sure you have updated the latest OneNote version and Windows updates. Outdated versions can cause compatibility issues and unexpected errors.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can consider resetting OneNote from Settings => Apps => Advanced Options => Reset or reinstalling the app.

Besides that, to support you better, please reconfirm this point:

Are you using a personal account (Hotmail/Outlook.com) or a school account (managed by your school)?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
