My audio is not working - Meeting participants can not hear me

Dear Microsoft Q&A team,

After joining a meeting, the participants can not hear me. I hear them, but they can not hear me.

After checking the Audio setup of my computer, I could not find any problem.

I organized a meeting with Google Meet, using my Google account, and my AUDIO works both ways perfectly. I can hear all participants, and they can hear me.

I am in the process of searching for a job, and all interviews are using Teams.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards,

Dear Carmen Arape,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Since your microphone works perfectly in Google Meet, we know your hardware is healthy. It is likely that your operating system is blocking the Teams Desktop App specifically, even though it allows your browser to use the mic.

1. Check OS Privacy Permissions

Your computer often treats "Apps" and "Browsers" differently.

  • Windows: Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone. Scroll down and ensure "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is ON and Teams is listed.
  • Mac: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone. Ensure the checkbox next to Microsoft Teams is selected.

2. Verify Teams Internal Settings

  • Open Teams and go to Settings > Devices.
  • Ensure your specific Microphone is selected in the dropdown (try toggling it to a different one and back again to reset it).
  • Crucial: Click "Make a test call". If you can hear yourself in the playback, you are ready for the interview.

3. The Interview "Fail-Safe"

If the desktop app acts up right before an interview, join via your web browser instead. Since Google Meet works in your browser, the Teams Web App will use those same working permissions to bypass the issue.

Quick Tip: If you are using a Bluetooth headset, check the input dropdown in Teams and ensure you have selected "Headset", not "Headphones."

Please let me know if this proves useful to you, or if you would like further assistance.

I'm looking forward to your answer.

It seems you are facing an issue where meeting participants cannot hear you in Microsoft Teams, even though you can hear them. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Microphone Configuration: Check that your microphone is properly configured in Teams. Go to your profile picture, select Settings, then Devices, and ensure that the correct microphone is selected and not muted.
    2. Meeting Policy Settings: Verify your meeting policy settings. If the policy is set to "Not enabled" for audio, you will not be able to use audio during meetings. Make sure it is set to allow both outgoing and incoming audio.
    3. Restart Teams: A simple restart of the Teams application can sometimes fix audio issues.
    4. System Volume Check: Ensure that your system volume is turned up and that the microphone is not muted. Also, check for any app-specific volume settings that might be affecting Teams.
    5. Device Testing: Since your audio works in Google Meet, test your microphone with other applications to confirm that it is functioning correctly outside of Teams.
    6. Update Teams: Ensure you are using the latest version of Microsoft Teams, as updates can resolve known issues.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, consider checking for any additional device-specific settings or permissions that could be affecting your audio in Teams.
