I am trying to verify a new email to make it the primary email and get rid of my old one, but when I press the verify button i get an email saying "If you added this email address as an alias, use this link to verify:" - when i click on this it just brings me to the "View basic information" page in my account. I have attempted this for two days and it still does the same and my new email is not verified, although it is still attached to my account. However when i try to log in with the new email it does not recognise it. How can i get my new email verified please?

Hello Angie,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Q&A forum

I understand you trying to verify a new email to make it your primary email, but it keeps sending you to "View basic information" page your account.

You should try to verify email again this time in Incognito mode:

  • You sign in to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft but in private/Incognito mode on your browser- A Verify button will be next to any unverified aliases.
  • Click Verify next to your email address, and then click Send email.
  • Open a second private/incognito window, sign in to your new email
  • Open the message from Microsoft and click the link inside.

You can also refer to these two sites for more Info on adding and verifying email to Microsoft account:
