Now there is no button to sync music from WMP, how do you do it, or do I need to use a different media player?

Hello Mick,

I understand it can be frustrating when familiar software changes. The Sync button is no longer a standard feature in the latest Windows Media Player versions. It only appears when WMP recognizes a device in MTP or File Transfer mode. If your device isn't recognized this way, the option won't be visible.

I suggest the following: reconnect your device, ensuring it’s set to MTP/File Transfer mode. Check if it appears under the Devices section in WMP. Also, try restarting WMP after disconnecting and reconnecting your device.

If sync is not working, you can still move music manually using File Explorer. Alternatively, options such as MusicBee or MediaMonkey can be used for syncing.

Could you please share the kind of device you are trying to sync to?

If you are using the old Legacy Windows Media Player, select some tracks, then right click the tracks and select 'Add To - Sync List', then the Sync List should appear on the right.

If the sync button has disappeared in Windows Media Player (WMP), you may want to check the following:

    1. Device Connection: Ensure that your device is properly connected to your computer. WMP typically syncs with devices that are recognized as MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) devices or mass-storage devices.
    2. Device Compatibility: Verify that your device supports synchronization with WMP. For a device to sync with WMP, it must meet certain requirements, such as advertising a PAP device interface and supporting specific interfaces like IMDSPDevice3.
    3. WMP Settings: Sometimes, the settings within WMP can affect the visibility of the sync button. Check if there are any settings that might have been altered, preventing the sync option from appearing.
    4. Use Alternative Media Players: If WMP continues to have issues, consider using alternative media players that support syncing with your device. There are various third-party applications available that can manage music and media files effectively.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to look into reinstalling WMP or checking for updates that might restore the sync functionality.
