    Hi Sazid,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum and explaining your situation. I understand that your university has provided you with a free Microsoft account, and you would now like to cancel the subscription that came with your laptop.

Here’s how you can unsubscribe from your personal Microsoft 365 account:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account
    2. Locate your subscription
      • Under Services & subscriptions, find the subscription you want to cancel (e.g., Microsoft 365, Xbox Game Pass, OneDrive storage).
    3. Manage your subscription
      • Click Manage next to the subscription.
      • If you see “Turn on recurring billing” instead of “Manage,” it means your subscription is already set to expire on the date shown, and you won’t be charged again.
    4. Cancel the subscription
      • Select Cancel subscription.
      • Follow the prompts to confirm cancellation.
      • You’ll retain access until the end of the current billing period.

And here are some important points to consider before moving forward:

    • You can continue using the product until the end of your current billing cycle.
    • Your data (e.g., files in OneDrive or emails in Outlook) may become inaccessible once the subscription ends, so download or back up important files before cancellation.
    • If you change your mind, you can always reactivate the subscription later by returning to the Services & subscriptions page.

I hope this helps you get the thing sorted out quickly!

To unsubscribe from your Microsoft 365 account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. If you're using the Simplified view, select Subscriptions. If you're using the Dashboard view, go to Billing > Your products.
    3. Select the subscription that you want to cancel.
    4. On the subscription details page, in the Billing settings section, under Subscription status, select Cancel subscription.
    5. If you’re within the grace period for cancellation, select a reason for canceling and provide optional feedback, then select Cancel subscription. If you’re outside the grace period, you can only turn off recurring billing.
    6. To turn off recurring billing, select edit the recurring billing settings, set it to Off, and then select Save.

Make sure to check your billing account type, as the steps may vary slightly depending on whether you have a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) or a Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement (MOSA).

For more detailed guidance, refer to the official Microsoft documentation on canceling subscriptions.
