My outlook appears stuck in "offline mode"? the troubleshooting suggests to go to "send/receive" and change the status to "online mode", however I don't seem to have this option available

Hi @Francesco Mele

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

To provide you a clearer instruction, would you please confirm if you are using Classic Outlook or New Outlook?

We have Classic Outlook icon on the left and New Outlook icon on the right.

You can see that there is a red X for Classic Outlook, which indicates Offline mode is enabled.

You can disable this in Send / Receive tab, click Work Offline again to disable it.

If you do not see this option, try reset the ribbon. Right click on the ribbon and choose Customize Ribbon, next go to Main tab >Send / Receive > Choose Reset. This will reset the ribbon to the default.

For New Outlook, Offline mode is quite different than Classic. You can go to Settings > General > Offline > Turn it off.

Please provide your Outlook version (Classic or New) so I can assist you better.

I look forward for your reply.

If your Outlook appears to be stuck in offline mode and you cannot find the option to switch to online mode, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check the Status Bar: Look at the bottom of the Outlook window. If it says "Working Offline," you can click on it to toggle back to online mode.
    2. Send/Receive Tab: If you do not see the option in the Send/Receive tab, ensure that you are not in a view that restricts access to this feature. Sometimes, switching to a different folder can help.
    3. Network Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is active. If you are connected to a metered network, Outlook might restrict some functionalities.
    4. Restart Outlook: Close and reopen Outlook to see if it resolves the issue.
    5. Check Account Settings: Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings, select your account, and ensure that it is set up correctly.
    6. Disable Offline Mode: You can also try disabling offline mode through the settings. Go to File > Options > Advanced, and under the "Send and receive" section, ensure that the option for working offline is unchecked.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to check for any updates or repair your Outlook installation.
