Dear e
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum.
This incident with error 0xA00F4244 <NoCamerasAreAttached> (and the camera missing from Device Manager) often occurs after a Windows update when the camera driver needs to be reloaded.
Before we proceed with the hardware-level solutions, could you please confirm:
- Does your laptop have a physical privacy switch or key for the camera?
- Can you find the camera listed in Device Manager after trying the View > Show hidden devices step?
- What is your Windows version?
- Is your camera a built-in camera or an external camera?
In the meantime, please consider try my suggestions and let me know anything news from it:
- [Settings] > [System] > [Troubleshoot] > [Other troubleshooters] > Find [Camera] > [Run]
- [Settings] > [Apps] > [Installed apps] > [Camera] > [Advanced options] > [Reset]
- [Settings] > [Privacy & security] > [Camera] > Make sure [Camera access] or [Allow apps to access your camera] and [Let apps access your camera] are [On]
- Open [Device Manager] (Search for it in the Start menu) > Click [View] > [Show hidden devices] > Click [Action]> [Scan for hardware changes] > Check if a category like [Cameras] or [Imaging devices] appears. If it does, right-click the camera device and select [Enable device] (if available).
- If the camera still doesn't appear, download the latest driver from your PC manufacturer's site (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.) for your exact model > Download and install the latest version provided by the manufacturer > Restart your PC and test.
If, after completing all the above steps, the issue remains unresolved, it is determined that your computer's camera is damaged due to physical reasons, not due to the installed software or Microsoft operating system. In this case, the best course of action is to take your computer to the store of your computer manufacturer to have it checked and to receive support for warranty components.
