I renewed my subscription after it expired (5 days) and reinstalled (MAC-home) it several times. The apps appear in Applications, but I can only access old data from a previous subscription. My current files aren't available. How can I access my current information or restore it to this subscription?

Hello ST-6186,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum

I understand you renewed Microsoft 365 but your Mac apps are still showing only old subscription data and not your current files.

To help you access your current files again, please try these steps:

  1. Make sure you’re signed into the correct Microsoft account
  2. Confirm the apps are activated with your renewed subscription
    • In Word > Word menu > About Word > check if it shows Microsoft 365 Subscription.
    • If it shows “View Only” or “Unlicensed,” the wrong account is signed in.
  3. Verify that your files are not stored under another OneDrive or local user profile
    • OneDrive folder (top-right cloud icon > Open Folder)
    • Finder > Users > [your username] > Documents/Desktop
    • OneDrive > Personal vs. OneDrive > Business if you ever used both.
    • Expired subscriptions do not delete any files, so your documents should still be on the Mac or in the correct OneDrive account.
  4. Check your OneDrive online to confirm which account holds your current files

Let me know how it goes

To access your current information after renewing your Microsoft 365 subscription, you should ensure that you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account that is associated with your renewed subscription. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Sign Out and Sign In: Open any Microsoft 365 app (like Word or Excel), go to the account settings, and sign out. Then, sign back in using the account linked to your renewed subscription.
    2. Check Subscription Status: Make sure that your subscription is active. You can check this by logging into your Microsoft account on the Microsoft 365 website and verifying your subscription status.
    3. Restore Files: If your files are not showing up, they may still be stored in OneDrive or SharePoint if you were using these services. Check your OneDrive account to see if your files are there.
    4. Reinstall Office: If the above steps do not work, consider uninstalling Office completely and then reinstalling it again. Make sure to download the latest version from the official Microsoft 365 website.
    5. Backup Data: If you have old data from a previous subscription, ensure you back it up before making any changes to avoid losing any information.

If you continue to experience issues, you may want to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
