Hello @Fatih Akin (Forcerta),

Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.

(Since you submitted this under the Windows tag, I’ll provide steps for a Windows device. If you’re using a different operating system, please let me know so I can provide you with the suitable steps for your environment.)

If the old tenant still appears when you try to log in to Outlook, you can remove it by following these steps:

1. Disconnect the old account from Windows

  • Go to Windows Settings (Windows + I) > Accounts > Access work or school.
  • Locate the old tenant account.
  • Click Disconnect and confirm.

2. Remove cached credentials

  • Open Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager.
  • Select Windows Credentials.
  • Find and remove any entries related to your old account (e.g., MicrosoftOffice, Outlook).

3. Restart and sign in with the correct tenant

After clearing everything, restart your PC and sign in with your current account.

    Hi @Fatih Akin (Forcerta),

Thanks for your patience throughout this process.

Since your account was migrated to a new tenant, Outlook and Copilot may still be picking up cached identity information from the old tenant.

Please follow the steps below carefully in order to troubleshoot for your issue:

Step 1: Sign out of all Office apps

    • Open Word (or any Office app).
    • Go to File > Account.
    • Select Sign out.
    • Close all Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

Step 2: Remove old work or school account from Windows

    • Open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    • Select your current account.
    • Click Disconnect and confirm.
    • Restart your computer.

User's image Step 3: Delete identity and authentication cache

    • Press Windows + R.
    • Open the following location: %localappdata%\Microsoft
    • Delete these folders if they exist:
      • IdentityCache
      • OneAuth
      • Olk

Note: Folder Olk is located in the same Microsoft folder as OneAuth.

    Step 4: Clear Credential Manager

Even if you don’t see entries that clearly mention the old tenant, please still do this step. Many credentials are generic (e.g., MicrosoftOffice, ADAL, OneAuth) and don’t display the tenant name. Users often don’t see anything that “looks like the old org,” but hidden tokens can still cause Copilot to redirect. This step is quick, low‑risk, and part of Microsoft’s standard cleanup flow, even when it’s not the sole fix.

    • Open Control Panel > Credential Manager.
    • Select Windows Credentials.
    • Remove any entries related to:
      • MicrosoftOffice
      • Outlook
      • OneAuth
      • ADAL
      • Accounts associated with the old tenant

Step 5: Restart and sign in again

    • Restart the computer.
    • Open Outlook.
    • Sign in using your current company account.
    • Test Copilot in Outlook again.

If the issue still occurs, please let me know so I can provide you with further troubleshooting steps. Thank you again for your cooperation and understanding so far!

    Hi Tamara-Hu,

    Now it works!

I think "Step 3: Delete identity and authentication cache " did it.

    I haven't tried this before.

Thank you very much for your support.

    All the best.

To remove the old tenant from your PC when trying to log in to Outlook, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign out of Office: Open any Office application (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and select Sign out.
    2. Remove the user account from your Office profile: In the Office application, click on your name in the upper-right corner, select Switch Account, and then Sign out from the account you want to remove.
    3. Remove connected services: Go to File > Account and under Connected Services, remove any services linked to the old tenant account.
    4. Clear cached credentials:
      • Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Run dialog (press Windows + R to open it).
      • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity\Identities and delete the profile associated with the old tenant.
      • Note: Be careful when modifying the registry, and consider backing it up first.
    5. Remove cached credentials in Credential Manager: Go to Control Panel > Credential Manager, and under Windows Credentials, find and remove the account linked to the old tenant.
    6. Log off and log back in: After completing these steps, log off from your computer and log back in to see if the old tenant still appears.

Following these steps should help you remove the old tenant from your PC and allow you to log in with the correct account.
