Can't sign into my outlook account

Im trying to play Minecraft, and when I go to sign into my other account on the launcher it gives me an error-

"something went wrong we can't complete your request right now. try again later. If it keeps happening contact support."

Ive tried everything; using a passkey, using my password, or signing in on safari. none of these work and it wouldn't even let me sign in to contact support. I used the tool and it said everything was ok. How do I fix this?

Hello Sevk
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

From your description, I understand that you're getting the "something went wrong" error when trying to sign into your Microsoft account through Minecraft launcher, and you've already tried multiple methods without success.

I can see there’s a Q&A Assist reply under your post. To avoid repeating it, could you tell me whether you’ve tried those steps yet, and what happens when you try? Please also let me know"

  • Can you sign into your Microsoft account directly in a browser?
  • Is the error happening only in the Minecraft launcher, or also when signing in elsewhere?
  • Are you on Mac (since you mentioned Safari)?

In the meantime, please try the following steps:

1. Confirm the account itself can sign in (outside the launcher)

Please try signing in to your Microsoft account in a browser, go to https://outlook.live.com or https://account.microsoft.com

Does it succeed or fail?

2. Make sure you’re using the same Microsoft account everywhere (Store + Xbox + Launcher)

Minecraft Launcher relies on Microsoft/Xbox services and can fail if the Microsoft Store/Xbox app are signed into a different account than the one that owns Minecraft. Please double-check that the same Microsoft account is used in:

  • Minecraft Launcher
  • Microsoft Store
  • Xbox app

This mismatch is one of the most common causes of repeated sign-in failures in the launcher.

Please see this guide: Troubleshooting Minecraft Launcher Issues | Minecraft Help

3. Repair/Reset the Minecraft Launcher + reset Microsoft Store cache

Minecraft Support recommends repairing or reinstalling the launcher and also resetting the Microsoft Store cache because the Launcher depends on Store components.

Please kindly follow this guide: Fix Minecraft Launcher Crashes and Freezes on Windows PC | Minecraft Help

For more details, you can also see: I can't sign in to my Microsoft account - Microsoft Support

If you’re still unable to access your account after trying the steps above, feel free to let me know what happens and I’ll guide you to reach Microsoft Support for further assistance. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

It seems like you're experiencing issues signing into your Outlook account, which is affecting your ability to play Minecraft. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Wait and Retry: Sometimes, the error message suggests that there might be a temporary issue with the service. Waiting for a while and trying again later can sometimes resolve the problem.
    2. Clear Browser Data: If you're using a web browser, try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. This can help eliminate any corrupted data that might be causing the issue.
    3. Use a Different Browser or Device: If you haven't already, try signing in using a different web browser or device to see if the issue persists.
    4. Check Account Status: Ensure that your account is not blocked or experiencing any security issues. If you suspect that your account may be blocked due to suspicious activity, you may need to follow the recovery steps provided by Microsoft.
    5. Contact Support: If you continue to have trouble and cannot sign in to contact support, you may need to use a different account to reach out to Microsoft Support for assistance.

If none of these solutions work, it may be beneficial to check the Microsoft support pages for further troubleshooting steps or to see if there are any known service outages affecting sign-ins.
