Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Dear Jon Attenburrow,
Thank you for posting your question to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Error codes 1164926648 or [5ssai] typically point to a synchronization conflict between the Outlook app and the Identity Broker (Microsoft Authenticator) on Android devices. Please follow the steps below carefully to ensure you do not lose your credentials.
Step 1: Secure Your Credentials
Before modifying the Authenticator app, ensure your accounts are backed up so you can recover them easily.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Tap the three-dot menu (or settings icon) and go to Settings.
- Ensure Cloud Backup (on personal accounts) or Backup is toggled ON.
- Note: Verify you have a recovery email or phone number associated with the backup.
Step 2: Clear the Authentication Broker
- Uninstall the Microsoft Authenticator app from your S25+.
- Uninstall the Outlook app.
- Restart your phone. This is a critical step to clear the cached identity tokens from the system RAM.
Step 3: Sequential Reinstallation
The order of operations matters here to ensure the S25+ creates a new "Device Registration" for Account A.
- Reinstall Outlook.
- Attempt to add Account A first before adding any other accounts
- Reinstall Microsoft Authenticator from the Google Play Store.
- Sign in and Restore your accounts from the backup you created in Step 1.
