I'm unable to save my Microsoft Learn profile.

Error message:

"Last name cannot start or end with a period. Last name must be 1 to 50 characters in length."

My last name:

  • contains only letters
  • has no leading or trailing spaces
  • has no periods
  • is within the allowed length

The issue occurs on:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users

This appears to be a validation or Unicode normalization bug.

Hi Igor;) I resolved my problem just ignoring polish character and it worked;) So you should type Kawczynski instead of Kawczyński;) I also asked about solution in my company and got answers to go this way;) I did and there was no problems in examination center. I passed my exam;)

I found, that problem triggers polish character. Without it, the form is working. But I have to pass last name with polish character because it has to be exactly as in my ID.

It seems like you are encountering a validation error when trying to save your last name on your Microsoft Learn profile. Given that your last name meets the criteria specified in the error message (only letters, no leading or trailing spaces, no periods, and within the allowed length), this could indeed be a bug related to validation or Unicode normalization as you suggested.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Clear Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, browser cache can cause issues. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies and then attempt to save your profile again.
    2. Try a Different Browser: If you are using a specific browser, try accessing your profile using a different one to see if the issue persists.
    3. Incognito Mode: Open your browser in incognito or private mode and try to update your profile there.
    4. Contact Support: If the problem continues, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance, as they may be able to provide a solution or escalate the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be best to report this as a bug to Microsoft so they can investigate further.
