"Planner" is no longer showing up as a Microsoft App in Loop

My team uses the following Microsoft apps for our project management: To Do, Planner, and Loop. We have multiple plans (basic) in Planner and up until two days ago, I was able to link a Plan in Microsoft Loop in our various workspaces and pages. However, as of September 24, the linked plans appeared "broken" and the ability to choose "Planner" from linkable Microsoft Apps is no longer available in Loop. I've included a screenshot below. The highlighted section used to include "Planner" as an option and it no longer does.

I can confirm I am logged into my business account and the plans in Planner are "basic".

Hi,

Is there a way to be able to add my Planner premium project plan in loop as a component. Currently, when I paste the plan, it is just the link and the board view does not show up. Is there a solution to this?

Hi @Carla Callado,

At the moment, Microsoft Loop unfortunately does not support embedding Planner Premium plans as components. This is a current limitation in the integration between Planner Premium and Loop.

You might consider using a Basic plan, which can be embedded into Loop and will display the full board view within the Loop component. While this may not provide all the advanced features of Planner Premium, it’s the most practical option available right now for seamless integration.

As of now planner still does not open in MS loop, regardless whether it is premium or basic. I cannot find solutions to this problem.

yes, you read that well. I have played with the alternative system that they proposed (creating tasks directly into Loop) only briefly, but it seems ok-ish. Give it a try maybe.

If you create tasks directly in Loop, then it creates a planner plan "behinds" it. The problem I have with that is that the loop task table is not promptly synced with this planner plan. There are workarounds that involve changing something on the table, but that is just not a solution for me. I do not use loop task tables since they don't sync regular enough with the updates to the planner plan behind it (which I might update using To-Do or directly in planner).

Is it possible to import tasks from an excisting planner to Loop? Or do I have to manually recreate all of them?

Hi Kirsten,

At this point, there isn’t a way to import tasks directly from an existing Planner plan into Loop. Any tasks you want to keep will need to be recreated manually using Loop’s native Task List component instead.

I’ve tested this in my own environment and can confirm that the Planner option is also missing from the Microsoft Loop interface just as you described.

After further investigation, I found a related service incident listed in the Service Health Dashboard (a tool within the Microsoft 365 Admin Center that provides real-time updates on service availability and issues across Microsoft 365 apps). Microsoft has confirmed a service incident that began on September 18, 2025, which has disabled the Planner component option in Microsoft Loop.

This issue is tracked under incident PL1154805: User's image While Microsoft is working on a permanent fix, you can still view or edit Planner content in Loop using this workaround:

In Planner, open the desired plan.
Click … (More options) > Copy link to plan.
Paste the URL directly into your Loop page.

Although this won’t display the full Planner component UI, users can click the link to open and interact with the plan in Planner.

No user action is required beyond applying this workaround. Microsoft is actively working on a resolution, and the Planner component will be restored automatically once the fix is deployed. For ongoing updates, administrators can monitor the Service Health Dashboard in their tenant.

Now I know why the loop component used to work and no longer does. I just started to use Loop and Planner so I definitely thought this was user error.

I'm looking forward for this feature to be restored. It really helped my team to stay in-the-know and actually update their planner tasks!

I’ve just reviewed the incident regarding users being unable to access the Planner component in Microsoft Loop on the Service Health Dashboard. According to the latest updates, the issue is still being actively investigated and resolved.

As of October 3rd, Microsoft was validating the effectiveness of the proposed fix, but the process was taking longer than expected. By October 10th, they anticipated completing internal validations and providing an estimated timeline for deploying the fix and fully resolving the impact in the next scheduled update.

I understand how disruptive this can be, and I truly appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you again for your attention to this matter. I sincerely hope the issue will be resolved soon.

I am also seeing this issue (/planner not showing the planner app), however it appears to be intermittent. I can access it occasionally, but mostly I cannot. I have not yet figured out a reason for the difference.

SOLVED: Just hire some Coders from Notion or other similar apps. This type of function works well in those apps. Within this thread, this issue was raised in September 2025. How many months does it take for Microsoft to show that it doesn't really care about fixing this issue? Thats a rhetorical question, by the way. Release it, fix it when users complain, default MS behaviour since the 90's.
I've wasted alot of time, with others in my team, trying to get to the bottom of this issue. All for nothing. I've been pushing and advocating for a firm wide roll-out of combining Loop and Planner as our firm-wide project and comm's tools - and recommending curbing the use of non-MS apps. Oh why was I so naive to think MS is getting better at innovation?

Hi all,

I had my company open a ticket to Microsoft and I had a call with one of their Project/ Planner Engineers. They reported back the following, which comes from message centre post MC1193421.

Features that will be retired as we pursue a long-term plan to bring equivalent capabilities:

Planner component in Loop pages.
This control, which could previously be inserted by typing /planner in a Loop workspace or pasting the link to a Plan, was one of the available options. This control will be retired between mid‑January 2026 and mid‑February 2026.
Loop pages support various options for capturing task information. We recommend the Task List Control in Loop to capture tasks.
After the retirement of this control, which is expected to begin in January 2026 and will roll out independent of the Planner update rollout, it will no longer be possible to add a new component of this type in a Loop workspace.
Workspaces where these components were already present will display the Planner plan URL where the component was previously located.
- Tasks previously entered in these components will remain available in Planner.
