Unable to log into m365.cloud.microsoft, something went wrong

Whenever I go to m365.cloud.microsoft, I keep getting a "Something went wrong" error message (great error message btw Microsoft, very helpful). No matter how many times I click try again, I can't get into m365.cloud.microsoft. I tried different browsers, clearing cache/cookies, inPrivate mode, Sandbox, different devices, different networks, and nothing is working.

We have a family subscription and the other accounts on the subscription work, mine is a sub-account. The only difference is that I had a Copilot Pro subscription linked to my account, and it seems to be when I get directed to the Copilot Chat in the Microsoft 365 portal that I am getting this message. I am able to access my email by going to outlook.com, and then use the All Apps to access OneDrive and other apps, but when I click on Microsoft 365 Copilot it tells me "Something is wrong".

I canceled my Pro subscription and upgraded my family subscription and that didn't fix the issue either.

I wanted to post an update. Sort of late, sorry been insane on my end, didn't want to be one of those that post an issue and never the resolution).

I was finally able to get Microsoft to resolve this issue. They never fully explained what happened but I got a notice from them that the issue was resolved. However, it took a ton of effort and having to overly push them to get them to escalate my ticket for resolution. I would much rather have all my teeth pulled then go through that process again!

I get this problem too and it is absolutely a problem with Copilot. Copilot starts after the older startup screen and pokes another option into the applications. At the moment the basic startup screen displays, then Copilot butts in and the "Something went wrong" is displayed.

I have found that If I click on an application before Copilot jumps in I can start applications and they run normally. I've ended up bookmarking them all individually which is annoying but usable. Perhaps this might help others. Note that I use Linux however and this brief gap before attempting to enable Copilot might be specific to that platform.

I've not been able to find a way to disable Copilot, which I don't use, and unfortunately my annual subscription renewed with it added in (unwanted I might add).

Like the OP, I also had a Copilot pro subscription although in my case is was the Github Copilot used for development. This has since been ended. Other family members do not see this problem.

    Hi Emmon Johnson,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. It sounds like you’ve already taken all the right steps.

Based on what you’ve described, especially the fact that other accounts on your family subscription work fine and your account was previously linked to Copilot Pro, it’s possible that the issue is tied to a configuration conflict or licensing mismatch on your specific account.

Here are a few suggestions that may help resolve or work around the issue:

    • Reinstall Copilot: If the Copilot app is missing or not functioning properly, try reinstalling it from the Microsoft Store. Once reinstalled, pin it to your taskbar for easy access.
    • Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, subsequent updates can resolve issues caused by earlier ones. Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any available updates.
    • Perform a Full Shutdown: A complete shutdown (not just a restart) can help reset system functions and restore Copilot. Be sure to save all your work before powering down.
    • Verify System Requirements: Copilot is available only in specific regions and requires that you're signed in with a Microsoft account. Double-check that your account meets eligibility and that you're signed in properly.
    • Sign Out Completely: Sign out of all Microsoft services across your browser and device, then sign back in fresh. This can help reset any lingering session conflicts.
    • Access via Outlook.com: Since you’re able to reach Outlook and other apps, try launching Copilot from the All Apps menu there instead of directly from m365.cloud.microsoft.
    • Check Microsoft 365 Service Health: Visit the Service Health Dashboard to see if there are any known issues affecting your region or account type.

I hope these resources help resolve your situation. Please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you need further assistance.
