Signature not allowing use of images (Mac Outlook)

With the new build—Version 16.107.4 (26040410)—the applications "Settings" interface format changed. This build also seems to have affected signature settings. When I attempt to change a signature, the option to add an image is grayed out. I'm also unable to drag/drop an image or figure out any other way to embed an image as part of my mail signature.

Suggestions?

The new build resolved the problem. Signatures have returned (at least for me).

Version 16.108 (26041219)

    Hi @Joe Johnson

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

First, I’d like to clarify that this is a user‑to‑user support forum. Moderators participating here do not have access to backend systems, nor can we directly intervene in Microsoft product functionality. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance and sharing best‑practice recommendations based on reported issues, requests, and scenarios.

I understand that you are encountering an issue when adding an image to your signature in the new Outlook for macOS. I’ve tested this on my end using the same Outlook build, Version 16.107.4 (26040410), and I’m seeing the same behavior where the image insertion button is also grayed out.

As a temporary workaround, you could try to:

Ensure Outlook is set to automatically insert your signature for replies and forwards. When replying to an email, try manually inserting the signature.

Additionally, I’ve tested the signature feature in Outlook on the Web (OWA), and it does not appear to be affected at this time. You may consider using OWA as a temporary workaround while waiting for a newer version to determine whether the issue persists.

In the meantime, I also recommend reaching out to the in‑app support team for further assistance. You can do this by going to Help > Contact Support. The support team has specialized tools and expertise to investigate this issue further and provide guidance, especially for Outlook application–related behavior.

In the new Outlook for Mac builds, signatures still support embedded images, but the way to add or edit them is through the Signatures settings dialog, not directly in the message compose window.

Use these steps to add or change a signature image in the current Outlook for Mac UI:

    1. On the Outlook menu, select Settings.
    2. Under Email, select Signatures.
    3. Select the signature to edit (or create a new one with Standard or the + button, then name it).
    4. In the Signature editor, use the image command to insert the image:
      • Choose PicturesPhoto Browser or Picture from file to insert a logo or other image.
    5. Apply any other formatting needed, then select Save and close the editor.
    6. Close the Signatures window.

    To use the updated signature:

    1. In a new email or calendar invite, click in the message body.
    2. On the Ribbon, select Signature, then choose the updated signature from the list.

If the image button is still disabled in the editor, verify that the change is being made in Outlook > Settings > Signatures (not in the inline compose area) and that the signature is selected for editing there. The supported method for adding images is via Pictures in the Signatures editor.
