Error 0x80040904 is no longer related to game DLLs. The Xbox / Microsoft Store version of Streets of Rage 4 is now MSIX‑packaged, so file deletion tricks from years ago won’t work.
Please try the following:
- Reinstall Gaming Services by opening PowerShell as Administrator and run:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
Reinstall it from the Store and reboot.
- Create the game’s save/config folder manually, make sure this exists:
C:\Users\<your_username>\Documents\Streets of Rage 4
(or under OneDrive\Documents if Documents is redirected)
- Verify account consistency Ensure the same Microsoft account is signed into:
Remove any extra accounts under Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts.
- Run the Gaming Services Repair Tool Xbox app → Profile → Support → Gaming Services Repair Tool.
If this still fails, the issue is likely platform/DRM‑side, not the game itself. In that case, submit feedback via the Xbox app, as forums cannot inspect entitlements or account state.
