A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the white screen issue when returning to OneNote on iPad:
- Make sure OneNote and other Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are fully updated from the App Store. Office apps share identity; outdated apps can cause issues when resuming.
- Reset OneNote’s credentials and local data on the iPad:
- If OneNote is running, force it to close by double‑tapping the Home button and swiping up on the OneNote preview. (See Apple’s guidance in Force an app to close in iOS if needed.)
- Open the iPad Settings app.
- Scroll down to the list of apps and tap OneNote.
- Under Reset, tap Reset OneNote.
- Turn on Delete All Notebooks and Delete Login Credentials.
- Note: This removes only offline notebooks on the device. Any unsynced changes will be lost. Notebooks stored on OneDrive or SharePoint are not deleted.
- Start OneNote again and tap Sign In to log in with the account.
- If sync issues appear after the reset, sign out and back in from within OneNote:
- In OneNote for iOS, open OneNote.
- Tap the back < icon until the notebook list appears.
- Tap the gear icon next to the account name.
- Under Account, tap the account name, tap it again, then choose Remove Account and confirm.
- Force‑close OneNote, reopen it, and sign in again.
If the issue persists after these steps and updates, capture details (iPadOS version, OneNote version, and whether it happens with specific notebooks) and contact Microsoft support with that information.
