On the portal.office.com, in the Apps & Devices menu, I get error that I do have Office license assigned:

(Clicking on "Windows" under "Get Office on your phone or tablet" takes me to download Copilot and not Office.)

However, on the portal.office.com, in the Subscription menu, I can see that Microsoft Business Standard is assigned to me.

From where can I download MS Office Business Standard?

Thanks

Hi @Bhagwati Prasad (KF)

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your personal information including your unique identifier in the description. Please notice to hide these personal information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Regarding your issue, this typically happens when the "Microsoft 365 Apps for business" service plan within your license hasn't been enabled by your admin.

To get this resolved, please reach out to your IT admin and ask them to check the following:

  • Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Users > Active users
  • User's image
  • Select your account and go to Licenses and apps
  • User's image
  • Expand Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • User's image
  • Make sure "Microsoft 365 Apps for business" (for me it's enterprise) is checked and enabled
  • User's image
  • Click Save changes

After your admin confirms it's enabled, please sign out of portal.office.com, close the browser, and sign back in. Then follow the steps here to install your apps: Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

The Apps & devices page only shows an Office download if the account has a license that includes the desktop Office apps. When that page says no Office license is assigned, it means the current license set does not include “The latest desktop version of Office,” even if other Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Exchange, etc.) are present.

To resolve this, the Microsoft 365 admin must verify and, if necessary, change the license assignment:

    1. The admin signs in to http://admin.microsoft.com with a work or school account.
    2. From the browser header, they go to Settings > My app settings > Office 365 (or directly to the user management area in the admin center).
    3. On the My account → Subscriptions page for the user, they must confirm that the subscription assigned includes The latest desktop version of Office.
      • If that entry is missing, the user does not have rights to install the desktop Office apps.
      • The admin must assign a product that includes the fully installed Microsoft 365 applications (for example, a plan listed under “Microsoft 365 Subscriptions: The following products include the fully installed Microsoft 365 applications”).
    4. After the correct license is assigned and saved, return to portal.office.com → Apps & devices. The Office download option will appear there, and Office can be installed on the PC or Mac.

If the admin is unsure which product or license is currently assigned, they can follow the “You don't know what Office 365 product or license you have” steps to review the exact services included and confirm whether desktop Office is part of the plan.
