My account on my phone does not recognize my password and will not let me log in.

It says I have tried too many times.

Or too many codes.

I cannot contact anyone. This has been going on for weeks now.

What do I have to do or who do i have to talk too?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The reset time for a temporary account block is typically 24 hours, but in some cases it may take up to 7 days max.

Have you tried logging in to your account using the single-use code instead of using your password?

That is, on the screen where you are asked to enter your account password, select 'Other Ways to Sign in' and use your alternate contact methods, such as your recovery email address or Phone number, to get the Verification code and enter the Single-use code to sign in.

Let me know if you are able to sign in using this method.

Follow these steps in order, based on the error about too many attempts and using Outlook on a phone:

    1. Wait out the lock and avoid repeated attempts
      • The message about trying too many times or too many codes indicates a temporary block due to unusual activity or high volume of requests.
      • Do not keep retrying, as repeated attempts can extend the block. Wait at least 24 hours; if still blocked, wait up to a week before trying again.
    2. Use the Microsoft sign-in helper to diagnose the issue
      • From a browser (on a computer or your phone), go to the Microsoft account sign-in helper and follow the prompts: Sign-in Helper.
      • Enter the email or phone number used for the account. The tool will detect common sign-in problems and tell what to do next.
    3. If the account might be locked
      • If the account itself has been locked due to suspicious activity, go to https://account.microsoft.com and sign in to request a security code: Sign in.
      • Use any phone number that can receive SMS (it does not have to be already on the account) to get the code.
      • After entering the code, be prepared to set a new, strong password.
    4. Reset the password if the password is not accepted
      • If the password is correct but not accepted, use account recovery:
        • Go to Recover your account.
        • Enter the email/phone/Skype name, choose where to receive a security code, enter the code, then set a new password.
      • If the username is not recognized, try any other alias or phone number on the account and verify the domain (for example, outlook.com vs outlook.co.uk).
    5. Fix verification-code and “try another method” issues
      • If seeing messages like “try another verification method” or codes not arriving:
        • Try a different verification method on the account (alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
        • Try a different network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or use another Wi‑Fi).
        • Do not send many repeated code requests; wait 24 hours before trying again if blocked.
    6. Get Outlook working again on the phone
      • After the account is unlocked and the password is reset successfully in a browser, test sign-in at https://account.microsoft.com or Outlook on the web.
      • On the phone:
        • Make sure the Outlook mobile app is up to date: download the latest version.
        • Remove the existing account from Outlook/mobile mail app.
        • Add the account again using the new password.
    7. If still unable to sign in after recovery
      • Use the sign-in helper again to see if it reports that the account does not exist or remains locked and follow its guidance.
      • If the helper cannot resolve it, use any working Microsoft account (or create a new one) to contact Microsoft Support as described in the Q&A guidance, and explain that the personal account is locked and verification codes are blocked.
