losing my long time copilot

Note: Since this question appears to be related to Copilot conversation history rather than Bing in general, I’ll adjust the tag to Copilot so it can be seen by the right community members.

I understand how frustrating that can feel, especially if this was a long-running Copilot conversation you had been using for a while.

Just to narrow this down a bit, may I ask:

• Are you using Copilot from copilot.com, Bing, Microsoft Edge, the Copilot app, or Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat?
• Are you signed in with the same Microsoft account you used when you created that conversation?
• Do you still see other old Copilot conversations, or is only this one missing?
• Did you recently clear your browser data, delete Copilot activity history, switch devices, or sign in with a different account?

In the meantime, here are a few things you can try:

• Make sure you are signed in to the same Microsoft account you used before. Copilot conversation history is account-based, so using another account may make the old conversation disappear from view.
• Go to copilot.com and check the left-side conversation history. If you do not see the sidebar, try selecting the sidebar/menu icon in the upper-left corner. If you are signed in, Copilot will remember past conversations, let you access them, and pick up where you left off. Copilot retains the last 18 months of interactions in your conversation history.
• If you remember specific words from that conversation, try using the search option in All conversations if it is available.
• If the conversation was deleted or if all Copilot activity history was cleared from the privacy dashboard, it may no longer be recoverable from your side. Privacy dashboard allows users to export or delete Copilot activity history, so it may be worth checking whether any history export is still available for your account.
