A Microsoft offering that enables tracking of cloud usage and expenditures for Azure and other cloud providers.
Hello Akanksha, it looks like the main hiccup is around which identity you’re using to sign into Azure and how GitHub hands off your verification. Here’s how it works and what you can check:
- Use “Sign in with GitHub” and your GitHub user ID (not your email)
- Go to the student verification link: https://signup.azure.com/studentverification?offerType=1
- Click “Sign in with GitHub,” then choose the GitHub option.
- When prompted for credentials, use your GitHub username and password (not an email).
- After you log in, pick the “Verification code” option in the dropdown and paste the code you generated on the GitHub Student Pack site under the Azure benefit.
- Make sure your GitHub primary email is correct and verified
- In GitHub go to Settings → Emails.
- Confirm that the email you want Azure to see is listed and marked Primary and Verified.
- If you used your college email in GitHub verification, make that your primary address (or add it/verify it there). Azure looks at that email when you sign in via GitHub.
- Confirm your GitHub Student Pack is active and the Azure benefit has been redeemed
- On https://education.github.com/pack, find the Azure section and click “Activate Now” or “Get Access/Benefit” to generate your unique code.
- If that button isn’t there or errors out, double-check your student status in GitHub (you might need to upload new docs or wait for verification).
- Why activations sometimes fail
- Email mismatch: Azure sees a different email on your GitHub login than the one you used in Student Pack verification.
- Unverified email: If the school email you added to GitHub isn’t verified, Azure won’t trust it.
- Pack not yet live: GitHub Student Pack benefits can take up to a few hours after approval to appear in the Azure offer list.
Once you’ve synced up your GitHub primary email with your college address (or a verified personal one), sign in via GitHub as above and enter the code. You should then get your Azure for Students subscription automatically provisioned.
