Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams categories
Dear @Barr, Rodney,
I understand how frustrating it is to be locked out of Microsoft Teams because your verification phone number is outdated. Because this is a work account, your login security is managed by your organization's IT department, but you can often update this information yourself if your company allows it.
Here is how you can quickly fix this:
Option 1: Update it yourself (If permitted by your company)
- Go to the Microsoft My Sign-Ins page at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/
- Log in with your work email and password. If it immediately forces you to verify via the old number here and won't let you past, you will need to use Option 2.
- Select Security info from the left-hand navigation pane.
- Locate your old phone number, click Change, and enter your new phone number.
- Follow the prompts to verify your new number.
Option 2: Contact your company's IT Helpdesk
If you cannot bypass the login screen to change the number yourself, your company's Microsoft 365 Administrator (usually your internal IT support team) must update it for you. They will need to log into the Microsoft Entra admin center, locate your user profile, and reset your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings or update the authentication phone number manually. This takes them less than two minutes to resolve.
For more details, you can refer to the official Microsoft support guide: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID |…
Please let me know if you are able to access the My Sign-Ins page or if you need to coordinate with your IT team!
