Feature request: Custom account order in the new Outlook folder pane — expected release date?

In the new Outlook for Windows, users can customize the folder order within an account, but there is no supported way to rearrange the order of the accounts themselves in the left navigation pane. Accounts currently appear in the order they were added, which is inconvenient for users managing multiple mailboxes. Could you confirm whether this capability is planned on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap and provide an estimated release timeframe?

Hi Rashid,

Thank you for taking the time to share this suggestion.

At this time, there is no publicly available confirmation on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, nor any announced release timeline, for a feature that would allow users to manually rearrange the order of accounts or mailboxes in the left navigation pane of the new Outlook for Windows. Although Microsoft has delivered improvements to folder organization and navigation, there is currently no published roadmap item specifically addressing account-level mailbox reordering.

For now, accounts generally continue to appear based on the order in which they were added to Outlook. As a temporary workaround, users can add frequently accessed folders (such as Inbox folders from multiple accounts) to Favorites and customize their order there for quicker access.

I sincerely appreciate you bringing this up. This is a practical and well-considered suggestion that would benefit many users who manage multiple mailboxes daily. Feedback like yours helps highlight real-world usability challenges and can influence future product enhancements.

To ensure your voice reaches the right team, I highly encourage you to submit your feedback directly through the Outlook (new) · Community portal. This is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered for future improvements.
