Hello all,

My Microsoft Teams app is failing to receive the latest updates, and it says "error has occurred with receiving updates" without any error code or anything that I can follow. I was curious about this issue. Seems weird. Was wondering if anybody else has seen this or experienced this.

I did take action did a little bit of troubleshooting repairing and resetting the app which never seems to do anything. Then my last option was to just redownload the Teams app which has seemed to do the trick.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing the details.

Based on your description, it appears that the Teams desktop client was encountering an issue with its update mechanism. Since repairing and resetting the application did not resolve the problem, but reinstalling it did, this suggests the local Teams installation may have become corrupted or entered an incomplete update state.

Microsoft Teams normally updates automatically in the background when the application is idle. Users can also manually trigger an update by selecting Update > Update and restart Teams when that option is available. When updates fail, the cause can sometimes be related to network connectivity, device policies configured by an organization, Delivery Optimization settings, or issues with the local Teams installation itself.

In this situation, reinstalling Teams was a sensible troubleshooting step because it replaces the local application files and can resolve update-related issues that other repair methods are unable to fix. If you encounter the same behavior again, you may also try accessing Teams through a web browser, as the web version is always kept up to date.

If the device is managed by a school or organization, it may also be helpful to check with your IT administrator, as update deployment and installation settings can sometimes be controlled through organizational policies.

I’m glad to hear that reinstalling the application resolved the issue. If you have any other questions or run into similar problems in the future, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
